Yesterday, a buddy and I travelled down to Blue Springs near Daytona Beach, Florida to check out the manatees that were gathered in the spring for the winter months.

Manatees are warm blooded animals, thus need to find warmer places to go during the colder months. In Florida there are many springs where the water is coming up out of the aquifer at a constant 72 degrees, which is way warmer then the rivers during the winter months. Blue Springs is a favorite destination for manatees, as there were over 100 in the spring run yesterday when we went. There are several other springs in Florida where the manatees go for the winter. Crystal River is a famous place for manatees, as there are several springs as well as a power plant.
