Week two was a much better week over all for the ACC as the conference bounced back against non-conference foes. There was one very entertaining conference game between Clemson and Georgia Tech. Here is a review of the action in week two.
Thursday Night's game between Clemson and Georgia tech was the only inconference match up, and it proved to be a very entertaining game between two of the conference's better teams. Georgia Tech jumped out to a 24-7 lead, however the Clemson Tigers fought back to take a 27-24 lead only to come up short as the Jackets rallied late with two field goals to take the 30-27 win. #14 Virginia Tech bounced back from its heart breaking loss to Alabama with a 52-10 rout of instate rival Marshall. Tyrod Taylor threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns in the Hokie's win. Boston College and NC-State also won in routs as they downed Kent State and Murray State respectively. Duke also recorded a nice 35-19 win on the road against Army. Wake Forest rallied past Stanford for a 24-17 win, and UNC also had to rally with 12 points in the fourth quarter to win at UConn. Two ACC teams once again struggled with non-FCS teams, but came away with wins this week. Florida State trailed Jacksonville State at home until the closing minutes of the fourth quarter when they rallied for the 19-9 win. Maryland also struggled with James Madison as they needed overtime to win 38-35. UVa fell to 16th ranked TCU at home for the only out of conference loss by a score of 30-14. |
