Week eight was a very rough week for the conference for teams that played non conference foes. There were several over important conference matchups that proved to be quite entertaining.

Last Thursday Night, Christian Ponder and the Florida State Seminoles exploded in the second half to down the North Carolina Tar Heels, 30-27, in Chapel Hill. Ponder threw for a career-high 395 yards and three touchdowns against one of the nation's top defenses.

The eleventh ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets dominated the Virginia Cavaliers on a rainy Saturday afternoon behind a dominant rushing attack, which employs the triple option, that racked up 362 yards and held onto the football for more then 42 minutes. The Yellow Jackets won 34-9.

Clemson upset #8 Miami, 40-37, in a wild high scoring game when Jacksonville native Kyle Parker, threw a fast ball strike for a 26-yard touchdown in overtime. Parker had a big game passing as he was 25-37 passing for 326 yards and three touchdowns.

Duke improved to 4-3 and 2-1 in conference play as they downed the Maryland Terrapins, 17-13, in Durham on Saturday. Thaddeus Lewis threw for 371 yards and two touchdowns.

Boston College fell to Notre Dame, in what has become an entertaining rivalry between the two Catholic Schools, by a score of 20-16. The Irish (5-2) snapped a six game lsing streak to the Eagles that goes back to 2000. Jimmy Clausen was 26-of-39 passing for the Irish.

Wake Forest fell to Navy on the road, 13-10, in Annapolis in very wet conditions.
