Bowl Selection Sunday has come and gone, and its clear the BCS has failed again, and the match ups and potential results will only give playoff proponents more ammunition in their arguments for a playoff. Here is a look the BCS.
First we have Alabama and Texas. Both teams are undefeated, and will play for the BCS Championship game and the winner will be undefeated. Next we have TCU vs Boise State, where both teams are also undefeated, and regardless of the outcome of this game, we will have a second undefeated team. Throw in Cincinnati vs Florida in the Sugar Bowl. If the Bearcats beat the Gators, then this season will end with three undefeated teams. Should the season end with three undefeated teams, one could only imagine the debates that would go on as to who the champion really is. Should there be three undefeated teams, then those teams could have a valid claim to the championship. If Cincy defeats UF, then there would be two undefeated BCS teams. A mess like this will only give proponents for a College Football Playoff ammunition in the debate. Cheers to a bowl season that should be very interesting to watch unfold. |
